  • 7/6/12 .. Rest stop on way home from Vegas about 70 miles south of Las Vegas and 40 miles north of Baker. Elevation about 3800 ft. Mojave Desert.

  • 7/6/12 Halloran Springs Rd. 7/6/12 Halloran Springs Rd. The sign is incorrect!... It should say NO GAS, NO EAT AND NO PEOPLE..... Sometimes you can catch a shimmer or shadow of of those that have worked here in the past... lost souls wandering around the old gas station looking for gas to pump and in the restaurant looking for food to serve.... North bound side of I15 about 13 miles north of baker (towards Vegas for you out of staters...).<br /> <br /> There is almost nothing else here.... Did see a covey of quail with babies... too quick for my shutter finger tho... <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halloran_Springs">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halloran_Springs</a>,_California
  • Up the Halloran Grade out of Baker towards Las Vegas. It can be a real car killer, snow in the winter and 110 plus in summer. At times a 6 percent grade and tops out about 4300 feet after a 17 mile run. This was taken at the 3000 ft. level.

  • A covey of quail with babies. They were quicker than my shutter finger...
  • This valley is the beginning of the Death Valley valley. Baker is about 5 miles to the left and Death Valley is approximately 100 miles off to your left. Baker is called the gateway to Death Valley. This image was taken from Zzyzx Rd. about 10 miles south of Baker on the I15.
